Texas Watershed Cleanup: Protecting the Headwaters to the Seashore
Plastic pollution and marine debris plague the Texas coast. Texas beaches receive 10 times more trash than any other Gulf state. Celebrate Earth Day by joining a watershed-wide cleanup on your own or with our partner organizations to protect the headwaters up in Dallas down to the seashore in Galveston.
Protect our watershed by conducting a cleanup on your own anywhere from a stream, to a street in your neighborhood, to a beach front. Since all drains, streams, and rivers lead to the ocean, picking up trash anywhere in our watershed helps protect the ocean and the animals who call it home.
Reach out to our partners along the watershed, including the Inland Ocean Coalition North Texas Chapter in Dallas, Galveston Bay Foundation in Kemah, and Turtle Island Restoration Network in Galveston, to learn more about a group cleanup in your area.
After your cleanup, post a picture of you and the debris you collect and use the hashtags #TexasWatershedCleanup and #DefendTheGulf.
(Due to COVID restrictions, reach out to the partner organizations to learn more about group cleanups.)
